Huanne-Montmartin

Huanne-Montmartin, a small rural commune in the Doubs, was formed in 1910 from the merger of the former seigneury of Montmartin and the parish of Huanne. It is located between Rougemont and Baume-les-Dames, a few kilometres from the Haute-Saône Department.
This pretty village, where life is good and the hilly beauty of the countryside is appreciated, is home to local craftsmen and artists.
Its beautiful and massive church dating from the 13th century, whose Comtois bell tower and porch have recently been restored, has a projecting staircase and a singular stone statuette. It was therefore only natural that Robert Schad’s work should be placed behind it, on the road leading from Larians to Baume-les-Dames.
The village of Montmartin was built inside the walls of the castle on a rocky spur inhabited since the 5th century. The castle, burnt down in 1639, then dismantled during the conquest of Franche-Comté by the troops of Louis XIV, was rebuilt in 1735.
A young couple has just moved in, with great tourist projects for this exceptional building overlooking the Val du Crenu. From the hamlet of Montmartin, a footpath leads to a beautiful Roman fountain, the Augier fountain, which will be restored and developed in 2022. The Bois de Reveuge campsite, one of the largest in the eastern region and set in a 20-hectare wooded park, overlooks the village.
