Saint-Gorgon-Main

Ideally located in the heart of the Loue valley, the Fruitière des Sources de la Loue was created in October 2017 in St Gorgon-Main in the Doubs, near Pontarlier and the Swiss border. As its name indicates, it is the result of a grouping of 21 farms made up of men and women farmers wishing to perpetuate the production of quality cheeses. To do this, every year, 6,800,000 litres of milk are produced on the farms. This milk, also known as "white gold", is collected daily and then transported to the cheese dairy to be processed and valorised, thanks to the know-how of the cheese maker and his team. No less than 560 tons of Comté PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), 150 tons of Morbier PDO, Tome and Raclette are produced in this cheese-making cooperative every year! As an indication, you should know that it takes about 400 litres of milk to make one Comté cheese... These products are sold to 4 cheese ripeners in the Franche-Comté Region. However, part of the production is sold in the shop by a team of dynamic saleswomen with a multitude of other local products. It is this inter-professional network, this human collective with the same desire to preserve a rich heritage that ensures a bright future for our taste buds!
